The Lindenwood baseball team scored two runs in the seventh to take a 7-5 lead that would hold for the final Saturday afternoon against Missouri Western in St. Joseph, Mo.
After the Griffons took an early 1-0 lead in the second, the Lions responded with three runs of their own in the third when
Mike Ehrhard drilled a three-run homer to take a 3-1 lead.
Nathan Prindle kept up his hot streak and hit a home run in the fourth to increase the Lindenwood lead to four.
Missouri Western responded in its half of the fourth scoring three on three hits. The Griffons tied the game in the fifth after a strike three got away from catcher
Ryan Sosnowski, who had to throw it to first to record the out as the Griffon runner crossed the plate to even the game at five.
Prindle recorded his third extra-base hit of the day when he tripled in the seventh, scoring
Wes Degener, before Sosnowski drove in Prindle on a fielder's choice to make the score 7-5. Missouri Western put runners on the corners with nobody out to lead off the ninth, but starter
Geoff Hartlieb completed the game shutting down the final three hitters without allowing a run.
Hartlieb finished the game with four strikeouts and three earned runs allowed. The win brings the season record to 2-4. Prindle was a single away from the cycle as all three of his hits were for extra-bases.
Lindenwood and Missouri Western play the rubber game tomorrow in St. Joseph, Mo. with first pitch scheduled for noon.
