The Lindenwood men's tennis team returned from spring break to take on the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Tuesday afternoon, and it turned out to be a nail-biter. The Lions won two matches by super tie-breakers and one match in a third set, but those would not be enough to edge out the Tritons.
The Lions lured in a win at No. 1 doubles as
Filip Bogic and
Naoufal El Idrissi took the match by a final score of 8-4. However, the Tritons won the other two matches to take a 2-1 lead.
Slobodan Bavrlic battled through a full three-set match as he won 6-1, 1-6, 6-2 at No. 6 singles. El Idrissi and
Theo Butaeye won the other two singles matches for the Lions, but they were not easy. El Idrissi won 11-9 in the super tie-breaker while Butaeye came out 12-10. The Tritons won the other three matches which gave them the 5-4 victory.
The Lions will return to action on Thursday to face Southwest Baptist at 2 pm.
