Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lions Play To Scoreless Tie

The Lindenwood men's soccer team played fought to a 0-0 tie against Rogers State Sunday afternoon from Hunter Stadium.

The Lions and Hillcats played even throughout the first half, with Lindenwood receiving a key opportunity in the 16th minute. When a corner kick brought the opposing goalkeeper out of net, Xhovani Dokaj fired a shot inside the box, but it was blocked by a defender. Rogers State had its fair share of chances to gain the lead, but Lindenwood net-minder saved each of the shots on goal in the half, and the defense stopped the Hillcats from taking advantage of the 5-2 edge in corner kick chances.

The second half played the same as the first. Thomas Hutcheson put the lone shot on goal in the match for the Lions in the 85th minute, and had a few shots sail wide in the frame. The defense held Rogers State to just one corner kick and four shots in the half.

Lindenwood controlled the first overtime period, getting three shots, but failing to put one on goal. The Hillcats  gained two corner kick opportunities in the second overtime, but Aleksa Nenadic led the defense to drawing the 0-0 tie when the final whistle blew.

Joan Castello Latorre, Ingram Tolish, and Gaspar Alvarez were among players who recorded a shot for Lindenwood, while Nenadic had four saves in net.

The result brings the Lions to 1-2-2 on the season, and will play host to Southern Nazarene on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. from Hunter Stadium.
