Free-Throw Shooting The Difference In Men's Basketball's Loss to Central Missouri

The Lindenwood men's basketball team fell at home on Saturday afternoon to Central Missouri. The final score was 82-75.

The Lions made nine more field goals and four more three-pointers in the game. They couldn't keep up with the Mules at the free-throw line however. Lindenwood scored just nine points from the free-throw line and only attempted 14 shots. Central Missouri attempted 45 shots from there, and made 38.

Lindenwood won the first 10 minutes of the game, as it went on a 7-0 run to take an early 20-13 lead. Four different players scored in that spurt. Central Missouri came back though and tied the game with under two minutes remaining in the half, and eventually taking a halftime lead of 33-32.

The Lions regained the lead early in the second and led 39-35 with 16:58 remaining. Lindenwood went 4:27 without a point, and Central Missouri responded with a 12-0 run. Later in the half, Central Missouri went on a 16-2 spurt, which pushed its lead to 67-50.

The Lions didn't give up, making five three-pointers late in the game, including one by LJ McIntosh that got the team within five in the final seconds. The Mules didn't make a field goal for the final 5:02, but 15 made free throws in that span sealed the win.

Lindenwood had four players in double-figure points, led by Jackson Price and Chandler Diekvoss with 17 apiece. McIntosh and Bakari Triggs both scored 13 points. Diekvoss also led the team with six rebounds and five assists. McIntosh, Price, and Triggs each had two steals, and Dominique Dobbs blocked a pair of shots.

Lindenwood falls to 14-8 overall and 4-6 in the MIAA. The Lions have a tough road trip next week, starting with Thursday's contest at Nebraska-Kearney.
