The Lindenwood women's basketball team lost 69-55 to Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday night in Kearney, Neb.

The Lopers made the second-most three-pointers in school history as Nebraska-Kearney was 13-for-27 from behind the arc. Lindenwood was outrebounded 47-35 and committed 14 turnovers while shooting 4-of-13 from the charity stripe.Â
Lindsay Medlen and
Alex Haley led the team with 13 points each while
Sara Ross finished with 11 points and Charisse William compiled 10 points.Â
Bre Zanders pitched in two blocks with four rebounds and one assist while
Gabby Walker grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

The Lady Lions struggled in the opening quarter as
Jerricah Butler and Medlen made the only buckets. Butler hit a three-pointer to make it a 5-3 deficit at the 6:07 mark of the opening frame. Medlen pulled the team within one point nearly three-minutes later and then hit another long-range shot with time expiring in the first quarter. Nebraska-Kearney held an 11-9 lead after one quarter of play due to both teams shooting under 30 percent and nine turnovers combined between the two teams.

Medlen gave the Lady Lions their first lead of the game after hitting layup in the opening minutes of the second quarter, but the Lopers regained a 16-13 lead with 6:38 to go in the first half. Nebraska-Kearney built its lead to seven points to put the pressure on the Lady Lions offense. Lindenwood responded with back-to-back buckets by Medlen and Haley, but the Lady Lions struggled to put together a run of points along with a few defensive stands. The Lopers caught fire from behind the arc and took a 29-18 lead with less than three minutes to play in the second quarter. Lindenwood was outrebounded in the opening half 23-18 and shot just 24 percent from the field as it went into halftime down 32-19.

Nebraska-Kearney continued to find points from three-point range in the second half and built a 43-25 lead after making its eighth three-pointer at the 4:17 mark of the third frame. The Lopers took added five more points in the next two minutes after Lindenwood turned the ball over for the 13
th time in the game. The Lady Lions played great basketball in the final two minutes of the third quarter and went on a 9-0 run to make it a 48-34 game heading into the fourth quarter.

The Lopers were dialed in from three-point range and made two consecutive shots from behind the arc to take a 54-38 lead after 1:15 of play. Lindenwood battled through the adversity and cut the deficit down the 12 points with just under six minutes to go in the game. The Lady Lions did not go away and played strong through the remainder of the game, but ran out of gas in the 69-55 loss. Lindenwood did not commit a turnover in the final quarter and finished the game with a field goal percentage of 36 percent and 21 bench points.

Lindenwood falls to 7-11 on the season and 3-8 in the MIAA while Nebraska-Kearney improves to 6-12 on the year and 2-8 in conference play. The Lady Lions travel to Hays, Kan. on Saturday to take on Fort Hays State at 2 p.m.
