Women's Hockey Prepares for Two-Game Series with Mercyhurst

Series Notes:
- The Lindenwood women's hockey team will play its first CHA series of the season this weekend with a two-game series inside the Lindenwood Ice Arena in Wentzville, Mo. The Lions will take on the Mercyhurst Lakers at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, before concluding the conference series at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

- Lindenwood and Mercyhurst have met 25 times since the start of the 2011-12 season. The Lakers own a 20-4-1 edge in the all-time series. However, in the last six meetings between the two teams, Lindenwood and Mercyhurst have each recorded three wins.

- Last season, the Lions and Lakers faced off five times, including once in the first round of the CHA Tournament. Mercyhurst had the advantage during the regular season, winning three of the four meetings. However, during the postseason matchup in Buffalo, N.Y., Lindenwood defeated Mercyhurst by a final score of 3-2, and advanced to the CHA semifinals for the first time in program history. 

- Lindenwood and Mercyhurst will meet again this season, playing a two-game set at the Mercyhurst Ice Center in Erie, Pa. on January 19-20.

Lindenwood Notes:
- Sophomore forward Taylor Girard was selected as the CHA Player of the Week on October 3. Girard totaled two goals and one assist in Lindenwood's two-game series with Minnesota State on September 29-30.

- Girard has already matched her previous career-high of three goals in just four games this season. Girard leads Lindenwood in goals, points, and power-play goals.

- Freshman forward Sierra Burt netted the first goal of her Lindenwood career in the second period against Minnesota State on September 30. Following her goal, Burt was tabbed as the CHA Rookie of the Week.

- Cierra Paisley assisted on both Lindenwood goals on September 30 versus Minnesota State. Paisley led Lindenwood with eight assists last season.
- Paisley won a team-high 28 faceoffs during the two-game series against Minnesota State. Paisley earned the victory in 60 percent of her draws, and has won a team-best 42 faceoffs this season.

- Jolene deBruyn stopped 52 shots in goal during her two starts against Minnesota State. DeBruyn is averaging 33.5 saves per game through the first four games of the season.

- Lindenwood scored its second and third power-play goals of the season on September 30 versus Minnesota State. Lindenwood did not score its third power-play goal last season until its 13th game of the year.

- Lindenwood will travel to Rochester, N.Y. on October 27-28 for a two-game series with conference-foe, RIT.
