Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lilako Nets Overtime Game-Winner for Men’s Soccer

The Lindenwood men's soccer team won its final match of the regular season in overtime, defeating the No. 25 Northeastern State RiverHawks by a final score of 1-0 on Sunday evening. Steven Lilako scored the game-winning goal for the Lions just 41 seconds into the overtime period.

Lindenwood and Northeastern State each had just three shots on goal during regulation, and entered the overtime period locked in a defensive battle.

However, just 41 seconds into overtime, Gabriel Jaimes sent a cross-pass from the left side of the field to Lilako, who had positioned himself perfectly in front of the Northeastern State goal. Lilako received the pass and guided the ball into the back of the net, sending the Lions to a 1-0 victory. For Lilako, the goal was his fourth of the season, and third in the last two games.

Tim Licht earned his ninth victory of the season for the Lions, and his second-consecutive shutout, stopping all three shots he faced.

With the win, Lindenwood improves to 10-7-0 on the season and 5-3-0 in the MIAA.
