Ryan Sosnowski Drives in Five Runs, Lions Win 7-2 on Sunday

The Lindenwood baseball team defeated Augustana 7-2 on Sunday at the Lou Brock Sports Complex with the help of five RBI by Ryan Sosnowski.

Sosnowski finished the day with two hits, five RBI, and one run scored while Wes Degener scored three times.  Tyler Muehling registered two hits while Kyle Teter drove in the only other RBI for the Lions.  Andrew Eilers threw four strong innings and allowed just one run on three hits and tallied three strikeouts.  Marshall Shill registered his first win of the season after tossing three innings and allowed just one run on two hits and compiled five strikeouts.  Connor Law closed out the final two innings with three strikeouts and just two hits surrendered.

Degener drew a walk to start the game, stole second base, and later scored on a passed ball to put Lindenwood up 1-0.  Sosnowski broke the game open with a big three-run blast over the left field wall to give the Lions a 4-0 lead after the third inning.  Augustana jumped on the board in the fifth inning with a run and added another in the top of the sixth to cut the Lindenwood lead to 4-2.

Sosnowski capped off his great day with a two-RBI double to left center in the bottom of the seventh.  Kyle Teter drove in Degener shortly after and Lindenwood held a five-run lead after seven innings of play.  Law shut down the Vikings for the last two innings as Lindenwood defeated the Vikings 7-2 to close out the series.

Lindenwood improves to 6-4 on the season while the Vikings fall to 2-6 on the year.  The Lions will return to action on Friday at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo. for a 3 p.m. game against Missouri Southern to kick-off MIAA play.
