Lions Clinch Series Over Missouri Southern on Sunday

The Lindenwood baseball team pulled out a 12-7 victory over Missouri Southern on Sunday to claim the series at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.

Kyle Teter had a big game for the Lions by going 3-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored including one double.  Rayce Singbush also tallied three hits in the game while Bobby Lange drove in three runs of his own.  Connor Law was the final pitcher out of the pen for Lindenwood as he registered the win in his two innings of work after striking out five batters and allowed just three hits.

Missouri Southern took the first lead of the game in the top of the second inning after posting two hits as three runners were left stranded to end the inning.  Teter singled up the middle to start the rally in the bottom of the fourth and then stole second base.  Singbush moved the runner to third on a single through the left side and Lang drove in both runners on a single up the middle to put Lindenwood ahead 2-1.

The visiting Lions responded with three runs in the top of the fifth to regain the lead 4-2.  Lindenwood got one run back in the bottom frame after a single up the middle by Drew Quinones drove in Tyler Muehling.  Missouri Southern took a 5-3 lead after the sixth inning and Lindenwood found a load of runs in the two innings to follow.  Teter tied the game at 5-5 after a two-RBI double to left center and then scored on a Singbush double to put the Lions ahead 6-5.

Missouri Southern again took hold of the lead with two runs in the top of the eighth to put the pressure on Lindenwood with a 7-6 advantage.  Lindenwood had one of the biggest innings of the season in the bottom of the eighth that was sparked by a leadoff single by Jackson Fuller.  Lindenwood tied the game after Fuller scored on a wild pitch and Ryan Sosnowski drove in Wes Degener on a single through the left side to put Lindenwood ahead 8-7.

Teter added to the run total with another single through the left side and Dillon Richardson scored on a wild pitch to give Lindenwood a 10-7 buffer.  Singbush and Lang each drove in a run to put the Lions ahead 12-7 after the eighth inning in which the Lions scored six runs on five hits and still left two runners stranded.  Law tallied two strikeouts in the final inning to close the door and help Lindenwood to a 12-7 victory and a 2-1 series win over Missouri Southern.

Lindenwood improves to 8-5 on the season and 2-1 in the MIAA while Missouri Southern falls to 8-6 on the year and 1-2 in conference play.  The Lions will hit the road on Friday to take on Northwest Missouri at 4 p.m. in Maryville, Mo. to start a three-game series.
