Women's Basketball Faces Nebraska-Kearney in Opening Round of MIAA Tournament

The Lindenwood women's basketball team will open the first round of the MIAA Tournament with a 7 p.m. game against Nebraska-Kearney in Kearney, Neb. on Tuesday night.
 
Lindenwood Notes:
-The Lady Lions are in the conference tournament for the fourth time since the school joined the MIAA in 2012-13.
 
-Lindenwood was ousted last season in the opening round to Central Oklahoma by a 71-56 margin in Edmond, Okla.
 
-Kallie Bildner was named MIAA Freshman of the Year for her 15.2 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.  Bildner was also named MIAA Player of the Week on Monday for the second time this season after averaging 22.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in two games.
 
-The Lady Lions rank second in the conference with a 9.1 rebounding margin and are seventh in the MIAA with a 43.3 field goal percentage.
 
-Lindenwood is 10-5 when leading at the half and 11-2 when holding the lead with five minutes to go in the game.
 
-The Lady Lions are 2-1 in their previous three road games including an upset-victory over Central Missouri.
 
-Lindsay Medlen is sixth in the league with 3.5 assists per contest and is leading the squad with 85 dimes on the season.  Bre Zanders is shooting 84.6 percent from the charity stripe and Charisse Williams has compiled 31 steals on the year.
 
Tuesday's Game:
-Lindenwood will visit Kearney, Neb. with a 12-15 regular season record with a 7-12 stint in the MIAA while the Lopers are 12-15 after the regular season and compiled an 8-11 mark in conference games.
 
-Nebraska-Kearney had the upper hand in the previous meeting after 13 three-pointers made ousted the Lady Lions 69-55 in late-January.
 
-The Lopers made the second-most three-pointers in school history as Nebraska-Kearney was 13-for-27 from behind the arc.  Lindenwood was outrebounded 47-35 and committed 14 turnovers while shooting 4-of-13 from the charity stripe.
 
-Lindsay Medlen and Alex Haley led the team with 13 points each while Sara Ross finished with 11 points and Charisse William compiled 10 points.  Bre Zanders pitched in two blocks with four rebounds and one assist while Gabby Walker grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
 
-The Lopers are 6-0 over the Lady Lions since the two teams began meeting in the 2012-13 season.  Lindenwood defeated Missouri Southern and Fort Hays for the first time in program history earlier this year and will look to do the same to the Lopers on Tuesday night.
 
Nebraska-Kearney Notes:
-The Lopers are coming off of a 93-76 win over Southwest Baptist on Saturday in Bolivar, Mo.  Nebraska-Kearney is 5-1 in its last six games of the season.
 
-Michaela Barry (15.2) and McKenzie Brown (12.0) are leading the team on the offensive end while Courtney Aitken is grabbing 6.8 rebounds per game.
 
-Nebraska-Kearney ranks in the middle of the conference in three-point percentage (31.8), free-throw percentage (72.0), and rebounding margin (+1.9).
 
-The Lopers are coached by Carrie Eighmey who is in her second season at Nebraska-Kearney and holds a 27-29 record.  Eighmey is in her fifth season of her career and is 111-71 as a collegiate head coach.
