The Lindenwood baseball team fell to Southwest Baptist on Monday afternoon in Bolivar, Mo. by a 12-3 score. With the victory, the Bearcats swept the three-game series from the Lions.
 
Southwest Baptist did most of its offensive damage with five extra-base hits. The Bearcats had two doubles, a triple, and two homers, and they had eight RBIs with those five hits.
 
The Lions led 1-0 after the first half inning, but Southwest Baptist quickly took the lead with a three-run homer in the bottom half of the inning. The game was still close at 5-3 after 3 ½ innings, but the Bearcats added four more runs in the fourth and fifth innings to give them a comfortable lead.
 
Southwest Baptist also won the bullpen battle late in the game. The Lions managed just one hit in three innings off the Bearcats' relievers, while Lindenwood allowed three more runs in the eighth inning.
 
Lindenwood had a big day from Kyle Teter, who hit a pair of solo home runs. Wes Degener had three hits and scored once. Ryan Sosnowski had the team's other RBI, and Sam Baxter had a multi-hit day with two singles.
 
The Lions fall to 15-13 on the season, and 8-8 in MIAA play. Lindenwood, which is 10-3 at the Lou Brock Sports Complex this season, starts a four-game homestand on Wednesday evening with a 6 p.m. game against Central Missouri.
