Men's Volleyball Wins First Set, But Lose In Four At No. 12 Ball State

Six players had four or more kills.

The Lindenwood men's volleyball team won the first set on Saturday in Muncie, Ind. to No. 12 Ball State, but dropped three consecutive sets to lose in four. Six Lions recorded four or more kills in the loss. 

Lindenwood attacked at a .344 clip in the first set to win 25-19, but recorded a negative hitting percentage in two of the last three sets (16-25, 21-25, 18-25). 

Michael Chard led the team with nine kills and 11.5 points, while also tallying three digs. Blake Koppel had a career-high 16 digs in the loss, while Ryan Vorderer had five. 

Adam Brewster had 18 assists on the night, while he and Ryan Moore combined for six kills. Joseph Mayer tallied nine dimes.

Freshman Sam Schindler collected 10 points on seven kills and a pair of solo blocks, while hitting .267 on the night.

Overall, the Lions hit .064 as a team compared to Ball State's .244. 

The loss drops Lindenwood to 5-16 on the season and 4-10 in MIVA play. The Lions have to matches remaining in the regular season, both being home contests. No. 2 Ohio State will come to town on Friday for a 7 p.m. match before McKendree visits Hyland Arena on Saturday for senior night. The Lions and Bearcats curently sit in a tie for sixth place in the conference.
