The Lindenwood men's tennis concluded its 2016-17 season with a 6-3 win over the University of Missouri-St. Louis at home on Wednesday.
In doubles, the No. 1 tandem of
Filip Bogic and
Naoufal El Idrissi solidified their dominant season together by defeating their opponents by a score of 8-2 for their 13th victory of the year. After losing No. 2, the Lions grabbed a much needed victory at No. 3 when
Theo Butaeye teamed up with
Adrian Beloqui to squeak by with an 8-6 score.
As he prepares to graduate, Bogic finished his Lion career in a fitting way - winning his match. The Lions' No. 1 singles player dominated his opponent in a 6-1, 6-1 straight-set win to give his team a 3-1 lead. The Apatin, Serbia native leaves the Lindenwood tennis program owning an illustrious career consisting of 52 victories in singles and 49 wins in doubles.
Naoufal El Idrissi also had a good day on the court, coasting to a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2. The junior finishes the year with 11 wins in singles, trailing just Bogic's 12.
Theo Butaeye took down his opponent by a 6-4, 7-5 score at No. 3 while the Lions' No. 5
Antoine Barraud also won in straight sets.
The men's team finishes the year holding an overall record of 8-11.
