Men's Basketball Has Road Showdown At Central Oklahoma

Saturday's Game At A Glance
- The Lindenwood men's basketball team has a big road contest on Saturday in Edmond, Okla. The Lions, who are tied for fifth in the MIAA, will face second-place Central Oklahoma in a 3:30 p.m. game.
 
- Lindenwood won its fourth straight contest on Thursday night with a 64-56 victory at Northeastern State. The win moved the Lions to 11-3 on the season and 3-2 in the MIAA.
 
- Central Oklahoma is also hot with wins in five out of its last six contests. The Bronchos are also 11-3 on the year, and they are 4-1 in conference action.
 
- Lindenwood and Central Oklahoma have played eight times, and both teams have four victories. The Lions have won two straight in the series, but the Bronchos have a 2-1 edge in games played in Edmond, Okla. Last season, the two teams played once, with Lindenwood winning by a 67-65 score in St. Charles, Mo. on a late three-point play by Jackson Price.
 
- Saturday's matchup will feature two of the top defensive teams in the MIAA. The Lions are allowing 67.6 points a game, including 61.0 points a game during their current winning streak. Central Oklahoma is given up 64.6 points a game, and rank in the top-20 nationally in blocks and field-goal percentage defense.
 
Lindenwood Notes
- Lindenwood's current winning streak has been sparked by its defense. The Lions are allowing 61.0 points a game over the last four games, and they are holding opponents to 37.7 percent shooting from the field and 30.8 percent shooting from three-point range.
 
- The Lions committed a season-low eight fouls against Northeastern State, and allowed just four free throws. In six games this season, Lindenwood has allowed 10 or fewer free throws. The Lions are 6-0 in those contests.
 
- Over the last seven games, Lindenwood has made 9.7 three-pointers a game, and is shooting 41.5 percent from beyond the arc.
 
- Lindenwood has played well with the lead this season. The Lions are 9-0 when ahead at halftime, and 10-0 when leading with five minutes left in the game. It has only lost once this season when having at least a four-point lead at some point in the game.
 
- Two Lions hit the 500-point milestone against Northeastern State. Jackson Price ended the game with 505 career points, four more than Brad Newman. Price reached that mark in 45 games, while Newman needed 40 games to reach 500 points. Dominique Dobbs is the next closest player to 500 with 446 career points.

- Jackson Price made seven three-pointers against Northeastern State, a new career high. He is the seventh Lion all-time to make at least seven three-pointers in a game, and the seven made shots from behind the arc tied for fourth in program history.
 
- Jackson Price has been hot lately from three-point range. Over the last three games, he has made 11-of-15 of his long distance shots, and he is averaging 18.7 points a game in that span.
 
- Dominique Dobbs had career-highs with five blocks and three steals versus Northeastern State. He is the sixth Lion in program history with five or more blocks in a game, and the five blocks tie for fourth-most in program history for a game.
 
- Chandler Diekvoss had his third double-double of the season against the RiverHawks with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Two of his double-doubles have come in the team's five MIAA games, and he is averaging 16.6 points and 7.4 rebounds in conference games.
 
- Brad Newman has made 15 straight free throws, and is now shooting 89.1 percent from the line.
 
- Lindenwood returns home next Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. rematch against Missouri Southern. Lindenwood fell to Missouri Southern earlier this year in Joplin, Mo.
 
A Look At The Bronchos
- Central Oklahoma is 4-1 in conference play this year, with its only loss to preseason favorite Northwest Missouri. The wins have been over Missouri Western, Northeastern State, Southwest Baptist, and Lincoln.
 
- The Bronchos rank 15th nationally in scoring defense, and is 17th in blocks and field-goal percentage defense. Central Oklahoma is also among MIAA leaders with a +4.4 rebounding margin.
 
- Corbin Byford leads the team with 12.7 points and 6.6 rebounds a game. He is shooting 61.9 percent from the field. Marqueese Grayson averages 11.5 points a game and has made a team-high 27 three-pointers.
 
- Jake Hammond leads the MIAA with 27 blocks, and Corbin Byford has 23 blocks.
