The contest between two of the top defensive teams in the MIAA turned into an offensive shootout on Saturday in Edmond, Okla. Central Oklahoma was able to defend its home court with a 98-87 overtime victory over Lindenwood.

Brad Newman forced the extra period with a jumper with 22 seconds remaining. That tied the game at 81, and Central Oklahoma missed a three-pointer at the end of regulation. The Bronchos scored the first five points of overtime to regain momentum and the Lions could never get closer than three points. Lindenwood shot just one-of-11 in the overtime period, while Central Oklahoma made three-of-four from the field and 10-of-11 from the free-throw line.

Adam Pohlman directed the offense by dishing out 13 assists, tying Alex Bazzell for Lindenwood's single-game record. Eight of his assists came in the first half, and he had five more in the second half. Pohlman did not have a single turnover in the game.

Behind Pohlman, Lindenwood shot 54.7 percent in regulation, including 57.9 percent on three-point shooting. The Bronchos were able to answer though by outrebounding the Lions by a 44-26 margin. Central Oklahoma had 13 offensive rebounds, leading to 21 second-chance points.

Jackson Price led Lindenwood with 28 points,
Brad Newman had 20, and
Max Meylor collected 14 points. Those three players combined for 11 three-pointers, and shot 55 percent from three-point range. Meylor also led the team with seven rebounds.

Lindenwood falls to 11-4 on the season and 3-3 in MIAA play. The Lions return home next Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. game against Missouri Southern.
