Comeback Falls Short for Football, Lions Lose to Central Missouri 31-28

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood football team (3-7, 3-7 MIAA) lost 31-28 to Central Missouri (5-5, 5-5 MIAA) on Saturday afternoon in St. Charles, Mo.  Cade Brister threw for 312 yards and rushed for another 100 as he accounted for all of the touchdowns scored by the Lions.

Lindenwood had a shaky first quarter falling behind 17-0 and allowed 229 yards of offensive production for the Mules.  The Lions ended the first quarter with a strong drive, and Brister caped it off with a four-yard touchdown run to open the second frame.  Lindenwood found some key turnovers as Ricky McCoy had an interception, and CJ Bivens forced a fumble on a punt to give the Lions great field position with 4:55 to go in the first half.

On just four plays, the Lions found the end zone again as a Erik Henneman touchdown reception helped make it a 17-14 ballgame.  Central Missouri quickly responded with a touchdown to build its lead back to 10 heading into the half.  The Lions put together a great drive to open the second half, but the Mules intercepted a pass at the goal line to end the drive.  The Lions stood strong again on defense to give Brister and the offense great field position.  Brister later found Henneman for the second time in the game to make it a 24-21 lead for the Mules.

Central Missouri scored its final touchdown to open the fourth quarter, but the Lions continued to fight.  Brister found Paul Silvio for a 16-yard touchdown, but it was too little too late as the Lions fell 31-28 on senior day.  Lindenwood was efficient on the offensive end as the Lions tallied 504 yards on offense and were 9-of-18 on third downs.
