Men's Basketball Loses MIAA Road Game At Missouri Western

The Lindenwood men's basketball team dropped a MIAA road contest on Thursday night in St. Joseph, Mo., as it fell to Missouri Western by a 63-51 score.
 
Both teams started out slow offensively in the first half of play. The two teams combined to shoot 34.6 percent from the field, including 25 percent from three-point range, and the Lions held a 22-20 edge at the break.
 
Unfortunately for Lindenwood, Missouri Western's offense woke up in the second half, while the Lions continued to struggle. The Griffons shot 75 percent from the field for the final 20 minutes, including missing just two of 14 shots inside the three-point arc.
 
Lindenwood had its last lead at 26-25 with 16:33 left in the game. After that point, the Lions went over seven minutes without a field goal. Missouri Western took advantage by going on a 16-2 run, and the Griffons led by double-figure points for the rest of the way.
 
Missouri Western ended the game shooting 53.3 percent from the field, compared to just 40 percent for the Lions. The Griffons won the rebounding battle by nine boards, while the Lions were able to force just one more turnover in the game.
 
Brad Newman led the Lions with 13 points, and he made six-of-12 from the field. Adam Pohlman had 11 points, and collected team-highs of seven assists and two steals. Chandler Diekvoss led the team with five rebounds.
 
Lindenwood falls to 14-8 overall, and 6-7 in MIAA play. The Lions travel to Northwest Missouri on Saturday afternoon for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
