Men's Basketball Can't Get Offense Going In Road Loss At Lincoln

Lindenwood men's basketball could not get out of its offensive slump on Tuesday night in Jefferson City, Mo., as the Lions lost to Lincoln by a 67-51 score.

The offensive woes started in the first half as the Lions went scoreless for nearly five minutes, starting near the 14-minute mark. That allowed Lincoln to go on a 12-0 run, and Lindenwood never got within two possessions the rest of the game.

The Lions kept the game within 10 points for much of the second half, but back-to-back three-pointers by the Blue Tigers helped them pull away for good with five minutes left in the game.

Lindenwood had season-lows with 19 made field goals and five made three-pointers, and tied a season-high with 15 turnovers. The Lions shot just over 40 percent from the field, and 38.5 percent from three-point range. Lindenwood did get to the free-throw line 33 times, but converted just 21 into points.

On the other side of the court, Lincoln shot 56.4 percent from the field, and made 11 three-pointers on 22 attempts. Lindenwood forced 17 turnovers in the game, and outrebounded Lincoln by one in the game.

Brad Newman led the Lions with 19 points, including connecting on three three-pointers and all six free throws he attempted. Adam Pohlman just missed his first career double-double with 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Chandler Diekvoss had 15 points, and Dominique Dobbs finished with nine points. Drew Moore earned the start down low and had seven rebounds. Zac Haese led the bench scoring with six points after he made both shots he attempted from the field.

Lindenwood falls to 14-11 on the season, and it is 6-10 in conference action. The Lions end the regular season with three straight home games, starting with Saturday's contest versus Central Missouri.
