No. 3 Women’s Lacrosse Moves Past Tiffin

The No. 3 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team scored 15 of the game's final 16 goals during its 15-4 victory over Tiffin on Sunday afternoon at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. The Lions limited the visiting Dragons to just one goal over the final 55 minutes of the non-conference contest.

Tiffin opened the game with three-consecutive goals in a five-minute span to take an early 3-0 lead.

Maria Johnson put Lindenwood on the board after exactly seven minute of action, cutting the Dragon's lead to 3-1. Allison Hurley and Sami Smit followed shortly after with unassisted goals, pulling the Lions even at 3-3.

Tiffin scored the next goal, taking a one-score lead with 19:14 remaining in the first half.

Carly Fedorowski's free-position shot goal at the 16:44 mark of the half would ignite Lindenwood, sending the team on a 5-0 run to close out the first half.

Lindenwood received goals from Cassie Stucklen, Hannah Doughty, Hurley, and Smit during that stretch and carried an 8-4 advantage into halftime.

The second half was all Lions, as the team scored all seven goals during the final frame.

Stucklen led all second-half scorers with three goals, and finished the afternoon with a game-high four goals. Hurley had one goal and one assist during the second half, and tied with Stucklen for the team-lead with four points.

Hurley finished the game with two goals, giving her 100 for her career. Hurley is the sixth player in Lindenwood's program history to reach the 100-goal milestone.

Rachel Ortell picked up her fourth win of the season in goal for the Lions. Ortell stopped seven of the 11 shots she faced on the day, including four stops during the first half.

Hailey Gallant and Sophie Buelow each dished out a team-high two assists.

Buelow and Shannon Modl paced Lindenwood with four secured draw controls apiece. Lindenwood won 14 of the 21 draws during the game.

The Lions outshot the Dragons 41-22 on the afternoon, and finished the game 13-14 on their clear attempts.

With the win, Lindenwood improves to 4-0 to open the 2018 campaign. The Lions will return to action on March 3 for a 1:00 p.m. game against Northern Michigan.
