No. 17 Baseball Splits Doubleheader on Opening Day

The No. 17 Lindenwood baseball team split its season-opening doubleheader on Saturday against Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss.  The Lions dropped the first game of the day in a 12-11 ballgame, but bounced back to win the second game by a 5-4 margin.
 
Game One Overview: Mississippi College 12, No. 17 Lindenwood 11
The Lions opened up the game with three runs in the first, but the Choctaws responded with three runs of their own.  Lindenwood took a 10-8 lead after the top of the fifth before allowing four runs in the bottom of the inning to fall behind again.  Mississippi College held on for the one-run victory in game one.

Game Two Overview: No. 17 Lindenwood 5, Mississippi College 4
Lindenwood again scored early in the second game after putting up two runs in each of the first two innings.  The Lions committed four errors in the field which led to just two earned runs for the Choctaws.  Andrew Eilers tossed six strong innings allowing just four hits and struck out seven batters.
