Conor Behrens Tallies Five Hits in 12-5 Win for Baseball

The Lindenwood baseball team pounded the baseball on Saturday as the Lions defeated Fort Hays State 12-5 at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.

Game Overview: Lindenwood 12, Fort Hays State 5
Conor Behrens had a monster day that started with an RBI double in the first inning.  Ian Nelson hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Drew Quinones for the quick 2-0.  The Tigers responded with two runs in the top of the second and another pair in the top of third to take a 4-2 lead.  Andrew Eilers did not have his typical outing on the mound, but still tallied six strikeouts in five innings pitched.

Quinones brought the Lions within one run with an RBI double down the left field line and came around to score later in the inning to tie the game at 4-4.  Dominic Revetta tattooed a ball to deep left field for a solo shot, giving Lindenwood a one-run lead.  In the same inning, Wes Degener belted a ball over the right field wall to extend the lead to 6-4 after four innings.  The Tigers came within one run in the top of the fifth, but the Lions took off starting in the bottom of the fifth.

Revetta hit two-RBI double down the left field line and later scored on a single by Brett Andersen to make it a 9-5 ballgame.  Vince Saladino added a run in the top of the seventh with an RBI single up the middle and the Lions tacked on two more runs in the top of the eight to take a 12-5 advantage.  Kyle Hentis picked up his second save this year after tossing four-scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and struck out three batters in the process.
