OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood softball team defeated the second- and third-seeded teams in the opening rounds of the MIAA Championship to head to the conference semifinals. The Lions upset No. 2 Central Missouri 2-1 in the tournament opener. They then defeated No. 3 Central Oklahoma 3-1 in the quarterfinals. The wins move Lindenwood to 30-20 overall, the Lions' first 30-win season in the NCAA era.

NOTABLE
- The duo of
Stormee Galka and
Marina Esparza each had strong outings in the circle for Lindenwood. Galka threw a complete game in the tournament opener, allowing one run and striking out six. Esparza got the win in game two, throwing 6.2 IP and allowing just one run. Galka earned the save in game two, her second of the season.
- Second-team All-MIAA shortstop
Austine Pauley hit a home run in game one and scored two runs. Today, she was 3-6 with a home run, two runs, an RBI and a walk.
- Honorable mention second basemen
Megan Clark showed off her speed, stealing a base in each game.
- First-team first baseman
Hanna Porter went 2-3 in the second game, scoring a run.

Ceairra Perez-Lane came through in game two with a bases-loaded double, driving in all three of Lindenwood's runs.
UP NEXT
The Lions will take on eight seed Emporia State tomorrow at 4 p.m. in the MIAA semifinal matchup. Winner of that game will advance to the MIAA Championship game on Saturday. This season, the Lions swept Emporia State at home.
