Baseball Handles Missouri S&T on Tuesday

The Lindenwood baseball team won its final non-conference game of the season over Missouri S&T by a final of 11-2 on Tuesday night at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.

Lindenwood had a strong pitching performance from Eric Hipp who went five innings and allowed just one unearned run on three hits and tallied three strikeouts.  Nate Hillermann was unhittable in his two innings of work as the Lions allowed just two runs on four hits in the game.  The Lions scored a pair of runs in the first inning including an RBI double down the right field line by Dominic Revetta.
 
Missouri S&T scored an unearned run in the top of the fourth, but the Lions responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning.  Wes Degener drove in a run on a single up the middle and Paul Sherwood drove in a pair on a single through the left side.  Conor Behrens scored on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 6-1.  After hitting a triple, Vince Saladino scored on a single by Jackson Fuller to put Lindenwood in front 7-1 after five innings.  Tyler Muehling and Degener each drove in a run on a single and Behrens hit a two-RBI double to give the Lions an 11-1 advantage.  The Miners added a run in the ninth, but the Lions earned their victory on Tuesday by an 11-2 margin.

Lindenwood improves to 25-22 on the season while Missouri S&T drops to 21-24 on the year.  The Lions will host the final regular-season series against Emporia State starting on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.
