Juhlin’s Late Goal Results in Victory for Women’s Soccer

MATCH OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood women's soccer team picked up an impressive 1-0 victory at Missouri Western in its first MIAA match of the season on Sunday afternoon. The win improves Lindenwood's record to 4-3-1 and 1-0-0 in conference action.
 
After 78 scoreless minutes to begin the match, Lindenwood's Katie Juhlin found the back of the net, giving the Lions a 1-0 lead.
 
Lindenwood protected the one-goal lead for the remainder of the match, securing the road victory.
 
Megan Swanson stopped all six shots sent on goal, en route to her second win and third shutout of the season.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Juhlin's goal was her first score of the season, and the first game-winning goal of her career.
- Jordan Wipke was credited with the assist on Juhlin's goal, her second assist of the season.
- Wipke has four points on the season, including points in back-to-back games.
- Swanson's six-save performance in goal for the Lions, was tied for the second-most saves in a single-game by the goalkeeper this season.
- Swanson has blanked the opponent in three of her five games this season.
- Lindenwood's shutout win was its first over an MIAA opponent since it shutout Emporia State 1-0 on Oct. 15, 2017.
- The Lions outshot the Griffons 12-8 during the match. Lindenwood also had the advantage in corner kicks, 7-5.
