Women's Soccer Rolls Past Southwest Baptist

MATCH OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood women's soccer team rolled past the Southwest Baptist Bearcats by a final score of 3-1 on Sunday afternoon from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
With the win, Lindenwood improves its record to 5-4-1, and 2-1-0 from within the MIAA.

The Lions scored twice during the first half, while also managing to hold the visiting Bearcats off of the scoreboard. Morgan Weller and Maggie Miller had the goals for the Lions in the 29th and 43rd minutes, respectively.

Southwest Baptist scored the first goal of the second half, finding the back of the net in the 63rd minute.

Lindenwood was awarded a penalty-kick opportunity in the 69th minute following a Southwest Baptist foul inside the goal box. The Lions had Jordan Wipke take the penalty kick, which Wipke quickly successfully converted to give Lindenwood a 3-1 edge.

Southwest Baptist received a penalty-kick chance of their own in the 84th minute, but were unsuccessful. Lindenwood goalkeeper, Lauren Greenstein made a diving save to her left to keep the Lions lead at 3-1.

Lindenwood protected its two-goal lead for the remainder of the match, and won by a final score of 3-1.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Weller's goal in the 29th minute was her team-leading fourth score of the season.
- Sammi Gregory dished out her first assist of the season on Weller's goal.
- Miller recorded her first goal of the season, and also the first score of her collegiate career in the 43rd minute.
- Samantha Linderer picked up the assist on Miller's goal, after her shot rang off of the crossbar. Linderer's assist was the first point of her career.
- Wipke's penalty-kick goal in the 69th minute was her second goal of the season, with each coming on successful penalty-kick chances.
- Greenstein earned her third win of the season in goal for the Lions.
- Greenstein stopped four of the five shots she faced en route to the victory.
- Lindenwood held the edge in shots (13-10) and shots on goal (6-5).

Lindenwood will travel to Edmond, Okla. for a 7:00 p.m. match with Central Oklahoma on Friday evening.
