The Lions opened up an early 7-2 lead over the first 2:21 of play, capped off by a Diego Womack layup. Lindenwood protected its lead until the 10:05 mark of the half, at which point Emporia State took a 21-18 lead. The Hornets would not trail the Lions for the duration of the first half as they entered halftime holding a 42-38 lead.

Lindenwood began the second half with an 8-3 run stretching over the first 4:14 of play, giving the Lions a 46-45 edge. However, the Lindenwood lead was short lived, as Emporia State promptly responded with a 15-4 scoring run which pushed the score to 60-50 in their favor and gave them the lead for good.

The Lions would trim the Hornet lead to as few as six points during the remainder of regulation, but ultimately fell by a final score of 85-68.

QUOTABLE
Head Coach Lance Randall
"We gave Emporia State way too many easy baskets off of our turnovers, offensive rebounds, and silly fouls that put their shooters on the line," said Randall. "I never felt that we were able to get into a good rhythm offensively. Brad and Diego were good on the offensive side, but after that, we pretty much struggled all night."

UP NEXT
Lindenwood will wrap up its two-game road swing on Saturday afternoon in Topeka, Kan. The Lions will face Washburn at 3:30 p.m.
