The No. 8 Lindenwood wrestling team went 2-1 on Friday at the NWCA Duals in Louisville, Ky. after facing stiff competition on the first day of the two-day trip.
The Lions lost to No. 7 Wheeling Jesuit by a 27-12 margin before bouncing back to close out the night on a high note. In the second match, Lindenwood faced the defending third-place team from 2018 and took down Wisconsin-Parkside 19-15. The Lions closed out the night with an 18-17 victory over No. 4 Pitt-Johnstown.

Carlos Jacquez and
Nate Trepanier each went 3-0 on the day as the only Lions to remain undefeated after day one. Jacquez opened the day with a 3-1 decision victory over No. 5 Cole Laya. Trepanier picked up a pinfall at 1:17, while No. 4
Gavin Londoff earned the only other victory in the first dual of the day.
Jacquez again faced a ranked opponent and handled business with an 18-5 major decision over No. 11 Joe Arroyo. No. 10
Colton Clingenpeel snagged a 6-5 decision victory over No. 11 James Lehman to help put the Lions in position to defeat Wisconsin-Parkside.
In the final dual of the day, the Lions found themselves down 17-13 with two matches to go. No. 10
Jared McKindley earned a one-point victory at 197 pounds to bring the Lions within one on the team score.
Courvoisier Morrow battled to the end with his opponent, resulting in a 3-1 sudden victory for Morrow, and the 19-17 win for Lindenwood. The Lions were deducted one point for control mat area.
