The Lindenwood football team (3-3, 3-0 GLVC) remains in St. Charles, Mo. this weekend for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff with Saginaw Valley State (4-2, 2-2 GLIAC) on Saturday at Hunter Stadium.
The Lions are coming off a big 28-24 comeback victory over No. 24 Truman State on homecoming this past Saturday. Lindenwood is looking to win its third-straight game since the Lions did so twice during the 2012 season.
The Lions struggled on offensive to start the game last week, but
Cade Brister and
Erik Henneman connected 10 different times, including three scores in the second half alone. Henneman scored the game-winning touchdown with just six seconds left, giving the Lions the upset victory over the Bulldogs.
Henneman was named the GLVC Offensive Player of the Week for his dominating performance against Truman State. The Lions have earned the award for the second-straight week after Brister earned the honors last week.Â
Drew Seers shared the light with Brister last week, earning GLVC Defensive Player of the Week recognition for his play against McKendree.
Brister ranks third in the country with 19 passing touchdowns, and stands eighth in NCAA Division II with 1,748 passing yards through six games. Henneman and
Payton Rose are tied for 14th in the nation, as each player has hauled in seven touchdown receptions this season.
Lindenwood ranks as one of the top offenses in the country, compiling the third-most first downs with 152. The Lions rank seventh in NCAA Division II with 313.2 total offensive yards per game. Lindenwood and Saginaw Valley State will meet for the first time on Saturday.
