Women's Hockey Closes Out Four-Game Home Stand This Weekend

The Lindenwood women's hockey team (2-8-2, 0-4-0 CHA) will remain on home ice this weekend to take on St. Cloud State (2-8-0, 0-8-0 WCHA) in a two-game series starting at 7:10 p.m. on Friday at Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Mo.

The Lions are coming off a tough 4-3 loss in overtime to Robert Morris last weekend.  Lindenwood held a three-goal lead at one point, but a pair of third-period goals by the Colonials forced overtime.  The Lions are on a tough five-game losing skid, with their last victory coming on October 18.  Lindenwood is an even 1-4-1 at home, and 1-4-1 on the road this year.

Annika Asplundh was named CHA Goalie of the Week, after making 77 saves in the weekend series.  Asplundh registered her first career assist on Saturday,  The New Hope, Pa. native has a .917 save percentage and a 3.26 goal against average on the season.

The Lions have seven different players with three point each on the season.  Maddison Stitt is the only player with two goals and one assist.  Hannah Alt is tied with Stitt for two goals on the season to lead the team in that category.  Courtney Ganske is leading the squad with her three assists on the year.

St. Cloud State is led by Jenniina Nylund who has accumulated six points, including five assists.  Abby Thiessen has a team-leading four goals.  Emma Polusny has been the main goalie for the Huskies, accumulating a .900 save percentage and a 3.47 goals against average in her seven games played.

Lindenwood and St. Cloud State will meet for the 13th and 14th times this weekend.  The Huskies hold the series lead 9-2-1 since the two teams began play in November of 2012.

St. Cloud State went 2-1-1 against Lindenwood last season, while the lone victory for the Lions came in overtime on November 10.  The two teams will meet again for a second weekend series on November 29-30 when the Lions head to St. Cloud, Minn.

The last time Lindenwood surrendered a home loss to the Huskies was November 29, 2015 when St. Cloud State won 3-2 in Wentzville, Mo.  In the most recent meeting, the Lions fell 2-1 to the Huskies, while Jada Burke scored the lone goal for Lindenwood to close out the 2018 calendar year.
