Men's Basketball Faces Tough Test on Wednesday

Things to Know
• The Lindenwood men's basketball team is set to wrap up its first homestand of the season on Wednesday evening with a non-conference matchup against the No. 3 Bellarmine Knights. The opening tip is set for 7:00 p.m. from Hyland Arena.

• Lindenwood and Bellarmine met for the first time in the all-time series last season on Nov. 28, 2018 in Louisville, Ky. The Knights prevailed in the game by a 74-60 final.

• The Lions will host the Knights again later this season from Hyland Arena on Jan. 18, 2020 for a GLVC matchup.

• Lindenwood is off to a 3-0 start for the first time since the 2016-17 season, when the Lions also began with three consecutive victories. Lindenwood won nine of its first 11 games that season, en route to a 21-12 record.

• Through its first three games this season, the Lions are averaging 90.3 points per game, and have eclipsed the 88-point plateau twice. Last season, Lindenwood scored 88 or more points just four times.

• Lindenwood has led at the half in each of its three games this season, resulting in a 3-0 record. Since the beginning of the 2015-16 season, the Lions are 55-9 when leading at the half.

Lindenwood Notes
• For the third time in as many games this season, TJ Crockett led Lindenwood in scoring on Nov. 14 against William Woods. Crockett finished the evening with 27 points (11-of-22 FG), his third game this season with at least 20 points.

• Crockett leads the GLVC in scoring average at 28.0 points per game, and ranks eighth in NCAA Division II.

Vijay Blackmon scored in double figures for the second straight game on Nov. 14 versus William Woods, finishing with 17 points (5-of-12 FG).

• Blackmon has connected on three three-point field goals in each of the last two games, bringing his team-leading total to seven made threes for the season. Blackmon is shooting 41.2 percent (7-of-17) from three-point range this season.

Sukhman Bhinder dished out a team-leading five assists in the victory over William Woods on Nov. 14. Bhinder has led the Lions in the assist column in every game this season, and his average of 5.0 assists per game ranks fifth in the GLVC.

Cameron Scales collected five rebounds off of the bench in the win over William Woods on Nov. 14. Scales is Lindenwood's leading rebounder this season, securing a total of 17 boards for an average of 5.7 per game.

• Following his eight-point performance (3-of-8 FG) against William Woods, Anthony Christian is averaging 11.3 points per game this season. Christian ranks third on the team in scoring average.

• Both Cyrus Barnes and Kace Kitchel were perfect from three-point range, helping the Lions defeat William Woods on Nov. 14. Barnes and Kitchel finished the game with two makes apiece from long-range.

• Lindenwood finished its game versus William Woods with 10 made three-point field goals. The Lions have made 10 or more field goals from three-point territory twice this season. In 2018-19, Lindenwood had eight games with 10 or more makes from behind the arc in 32 games.

• Lindenwood has won the turnover battle in every game this season, while managing to commit fewer than 10 turnovers in each game. The Lions have turned the ball over just 20 times through three games this season, while forcing their opponents into 47 turnovers.

• With an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.35, Lindenwood leads the GLVC, and ranks second in all of NCAA Division II. The Lions lead the GLVC in fewest turnovers committed, and rank fifth in the conference in total assists.

• Lindenwood will travel to Champaign, Ill. for its next game on Nov. 26, an exhibition contest against NCAA Division I, Illinois.

• Following the exhibition contest at Illinois, the Lions will  begin GLVC play with a Dec. 3 showdown at crosstown rival, Missouri-St. Lous.

• Lindenwood will have its next home game on Dec. 12 against Hannibal-LaGrange at 7:00 p.m.

Scouting the Competition
• Bellarmine will make its first appearance inside Hyland Arena on Nov. 20 during its non-conference matchup with Lindenwood.

• The Knights arrive in St. Charles, Mo. as the third-ranked team in NCAA Division II, boasting a perfect 3-0 record this season.

• Bellarmine has won its three games this season by an average of 28.3 points per game, including a 90-51 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan in its most recent game on Nov. 13.

• Bellarmine finished the 2018-19 season with a 28-5 record, including a 14-4 mark from within the GLVC, as it advanced to the Midwest Regional Final.

• The Knights have four scorers averaging at least 10.0 points per game this season, led by the duo of Alex Cook and Ben Weyer who are each averaging over 19.0 points per game.
