Football Ends Season in Second Round of Playoffs

The Lindenwood football team (9-4) lost 63-7 to No. 10 Northwest Missouri State (12-1) on Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs in Maryville, Mo.
 
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions could not generate much offense in the game, compiling just 205 passing yards and 21 rushing yards.  The Bearcats pounded the ball on the ground for 417 yards, while adding 176 yards though the air.  Northwest Missouri took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, and took advantage of a Lindenwood turnover to keep the Lions off the board.
 
Lindenwood turned the ball over two more times in the second quarter, as the Bearcats took a 35-0 lead into halftime.  The Lions scored their only touchdown of the game in the third quarter, as Erik Henneman muscled his way to a 21-yard touchdown reception.  Lindenwood could not gain momentum on Saturday, as its season came to an end in the second round of the playoffs.  Drew Seers set a new school record after notching 17.0 tackles for loss this season.  Seers and Grady Daniels were tied for the game-high 13 tackles on the day.

Lindenwood ended the 2019 season with a 9-4 overall record, while going undefeated (7-0) in its first season in the Great Lakes Valley Conference to win the 2019 GLVC Championship.
