The Lindenwood baseball team (4-6) swept Lake Erie College (0-2) on Thursday by scores of 5-4 and 22-3 at Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo. The Lions set a new program record for runs scored in a game in the NCAA era.
GAME ONE OVERVIEW
Lindenwood fell behind 1-0 in the second inning, but responded in the bottom of the frame.
Kyle Stevens and
Kolby Schulte took advantage of the defensive miscues, as they both scored in the inning to give Lindenwood a 2-1 lead. The Storm regained the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the third to take at 3-2 advantage.
The Lions tied the game in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly by
Dominic Revetta, and took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the sixth on a single by
Bryce Beckmann to score
Alex Gauspohl.
Tyler Cassmeyer came in to relieve
Eric Hipp in the top of the seventh. Hipp had six strikeouts in his six innings pitched to earn the win, while Cassmeyer closed out the final three innings with just three hits allowed. The Lions held on for their third win of the season, and first at home this season.

GAME TWO OVERVIEW
Lindenwood fell behind early in game two as Lake Erie took a 2-0 lead after the second inning. The Lions fought back in the third inning, even after the first two batters were retired.
DJ Miller, Beckmann, and
Ryan Venne hit back-to-back-to-back RBI singles to give the Lions a 3-2 lead after the third inning. The Storm scored in the top of the seventh on a fielding error to tie the game at 3-3.
Lindenwood broke the game open in the seventh inning as the Lions scored seven runs on four hits. Fischer had a two-RBI double in the inning, while Schulte had a two-RBI triple just a few batters later. The Lions then had one of the biggest innings in program history as they scored 12 runs in the eighth frame.
Calvin Nowak had a two-RBI single on his second hit of the inning, while Fischer hit a grand slam to cap off the explosive inning. The Lions defeated the Storm 22-3 in the second game to complete the two-game sweep on Thursday.
