Men's Basketball Looks to Stay Hot Tomorrow Night at Lincoln

Things to Know
• The Lindenwood men's basketball team will play its final regular-season road game on Tuesday evening in Jefferson City, Mo. The Lions will take on the Lincoln Blue Tigers inside Jason Gym at 7:30 p.m.

• Lindenwood will arrive in Jefferson City riding a current two-game winning streak. In their two most recent games, Lindenwood secured victories at Fort Hays (Feb. 14) and at Nebraska-Kearney (Feb. 16).

• The Lions scored exactly 73 points during each road win last week, and held their opponents to 67 and 65 points, respectively. Lindenwood has a 9-1 record this season when limiting their opponents to under 70 points in a game.

• Lindenwood and Lincoln played a triple-overtime thriller earlier this season inside Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo. on Jan. 12. The three-overtime game was one of just seven games to play three overtimes in NCAA Division II this season.

• The Blue Tigers prevailed in the Jan. 12 meeting inside Hyland Arena by a final score of 96-87. Although Lindenwood owns the edge in the all-time series, 11-9, Lincoln has won the last four meetings.

Lindenwood Notes
• Chandler Diekvoss notched his third straight 20-point performance at Nebraska-Kearney on Feb. 16. Diekvoss finished the afternoon with 25 points and was 10-of-11 from the field.

• Diekvoss' efficient shooting performance, hitting 10-of-11 FG (91.0 percent), was the best individual single-game shooting effort of the season for the team.

• Over his last three games, Diekvoss is averaging 25.0 points per game. For the season, Diekvoss is averaging 15.9 points per game, tied for the 13th-most points per game in the MIAA. In his 15 games against MIAA opponents, Diekvoss is scoring 17.3 points per game.

• Diekvoss also led the Lions in rebounding at Nebraska-Kearney, securing eight boards in the game. Diekvoss is averaging a team-high 6.9 rebounds per game this season and has led Lindenwood in rebounding 13 times.

• On Feb. 18, Diekvoss was selected as the MIAA Men's Basketball Co-Athlete of the Week. Diekvoss averaged 24.0 points per game and 9.0 rebounds per game during Lindenwood's two road victories last week.

• Brad Newman totaled 13 points on Feb. 16 at Nebraska-Kearney, his 25th game this season reaching double-digit points.

• Newman was 1-of-3 from three-point range at Nebraska-Kearney, giving him an even 50 makes from behind the arc this season. Newman is shooting 36.5 percent from three-point territory this season.

• Newman leads Lindenwood in scoring this season, averaging 20.3 points per game. Newman ranks fifth in the MIAA in overall scoring, and his average of 22.2 points per game in conference games is second in the MIAA.

• Diego Womack scored in double figures for third straight game and the 14th time overall this season on Feb. 16 at Nebraska-Kearney. Womack ended the game with 12 points (5-of-13 FG).

• In the game at Nebraska-Kearney, Womack collected five rebounds, giving him 16 games this season with at least five rebounds. Womack ranks second on the team in rebounding at 5.1 rebounds per game.

• Adam Pohlman shared the team lead in assists with Diekvoss following the Feb. 18 game at Nebraska-Kearney. Pohlman and Diekvoss each dished out four assists in the game, while four other Lions had multi-assist games.

• Pohlman leads Lindenwood and is ranked third in the MIAA with an average of 5.0 assists per game. Pohlman is currently third in the MIAA with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.5.

• Lindenwood's game at Lincoln on Feb. 19 will be the team's first game on a Tuesday this season.

• Following its road game at Lincoln, Lindenwood will conclude its regular-season schedule with three straight home games. The Lions have a 5-5 record inside Hyland Arena this season, and are 32-22 on their home court over the last four seasons.

Scouting the Competition
• Lincoln enters Tuesday's matchup with a record of 16-8, including a 9-6 mark from within the MIAA.

• The Blue Tigers are currently tied for fourth place in the MIAA standings with Fort Hays State. Lincoln is two games behind third-place, Missouri Southern.

• Lincoln was tabbed ninth in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll, after finishing the 2017-18 season with a 15-14 record.

• Lincoln is averaging 75.6 points per game this season. However, in their last four games, the Blue Tigers have failed to score more than 67 points in any game. Lincoln is just 1-3 in that four-game stretch, and the team has dropped each of its last three games.

• Lincoln is led offensively by Terrance Smith. Smith is 11th in the MIAA in scoring at 16.8 ppg. Smith is shooting 55.2 percent from the field, the third best mark inside the conference.

• The Blue Tigers have four other scorers that average double-digit points, including Amariontez Ivory (13.1 ppg) and Jonell Burton (12.9 ppg).
