The No. 16 Lindenwod men's lacrosse team extended its season-opening winning streak to four games on Saturday afternoon with a 14-10 road victory over Young Harris. With wins in each of its first four games of the season, the Lions are off to their best start since starting the 2015 campaign with a 5-0 record.
GAME OVERVIEW
Leonard Jones scored the game's first goal just 88 seconds into the contest, giving the Lions an early 1-0 advantage. Lindenwood protected its one-goal lead for the next 10:04 of play, until Young Harris tallied the equalizing score.
Lindenwood responded with two goals in the final 80 seconds of the quarter, building a 3-1 lead after the first frame. Jones had Lindenwood's second goal of the game, while
Garrett Brunsvold picked up the team's third score.
The home team scored back-to-back goals to begin the second quarter, tying the game at 3-3. However, the Lions poured in four of the next five goals before halftime, and took a 7-4 lead into the intermission.
Each team scored twice in the third quarter, which ended with Lindenwood holding a 9-6 lead over Young Harris.
The Mountain Lions outscored the Lions by a 3-1 margin to begin the fourth quarter, trimming Lindenwood's lead to just a single goal.
Lindenwood responded with four of the game's final five goals, as
Carter Collins,
Colin Domek, and Jones twice all found the back of the net, helping the Lions earn a 14-10 win.
