The No. 4 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team secured a 6-3 victory over the Findlay Oilers from Findlay, Ohio on Friday afternoon. The Lions held their opponent to three goals or less for the fourth consecutive game to begin the season, and have allowed just nine goals in their first four contests.
GAME OVERVIEW
Findaly scored the game's first goal at the 3:37 mark of the first half to take an early 1-0 lead.
Lindenwood pulled even with the home team just 94 seconds later, as
Sarah Farley netted the equalizing goal. Farley's score sparked the Lions on a 4-0 scoring run to close out the period, including the final three goals of the half from
Carly Fedorowski. Lindenwood entered halftime holding a 4-1 edge.
Sami Smit extended the Lions' lead to 5-1 just 52 seconds into the second half. Smit's goal came on a free-position attempt.
The Oilers scored the next two goals of the game, and trimmed the Lions' lead to 5-3 with just under eight minutes remaining in regulation.
Lindenwood sealed the victory nearly two minutes later, as
Ellie Faulk scored the final goal of the afternoon, bringing the game to its final score of 6-3.
