The No. 6 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team earned a matinee victory over Lake Erie from Painesville, Ohio on Tuesday afternoon. The Lions defeated the Storm by a final score of 10-2, and were led by three goals apiece from
Gracie Pine and
Emma Wildhart.
GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood registered the first seven shots on goal of the game, but were turned away each time by the Lake Erie goalkeeper, who kept the Lions off the scoreboard for just over the first 17 minutes of play.
Lindenwood finally broke through with the first score of the game at the 12:54 mark of the opening period, as Pine found the back of the net to put the Lions ahead 1-0.
Just 44 seconds after Pine's goal,
Meghan Rea assisted Wildhart on Lindenwood's second score of the afternoon.
The Lions scored three more times before halftime, including two goals from
Sami Smit and one from
Hailey Gallant. Lindenwood limited Lake Erie to just one first-half goal, and entered halftime with a 5-1 lead.
Lindenwood scored the first two goals of the second half within 34 seconds of each other, as Pine and Rea each put shots past the Lake Erie netminder. Pine's goal was scored with 27:21 remaining in regulation, and Rea's came with 26:47 showing on the clock, as the Lions moved ahead by a 7-1 score.
Following a Lake Erie goal to slice the Lindenwood lead to a 7-2 margin, the Lions embarked on a 3-0 scoring run that would include the final three scores of the game, bringing the game to its final score of 10-2. Wildhart accounted for the final two Lindenwood scores of the day.

- Pine's three-goal performance was her fifth hat trick of the season, and brings her season total to 23 goals scored.
- Wildhart matched a season-high with her three goals scored.
- Smit scored two goals, her third multi-goal game of the season, and has now scored at least one goal in eight games this year.
