Softball Sweeps Emporia State to Open MIAA Play

GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood softball hit three home runs in a doubleheader against Emporia State to power the Lions over the Hornets. The wins move Lindenwood to 8-2 overall and a 2-0 start to MIAA games. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- In game one, the Lions and Hornets were held scoreless for most of the game, but in the sixth inning, Hanna Porter hit a sacrifice fly to open the scoring. A three-run seventh sealed the 4-0 victory for Lindenwood.
- Ceairra Perez was 2-3 with two runs scored and a steal in the game. 
- Stormee Galka also recorded two hits, going 2-4 in the game.
- Caitlyn Touchette hit a home run in the seventh, her second of the season.
- Galka got the win in the circle, her fourth of the season. She threw all seven innings of shutout softball, allowing one hit, no walks and striking out four.

- In the second game, the Lion offense exploded for seven runs, fueled by a four-run first inning.
- Austine Pauley led off the game with a solo home run, her third of the season.
- Galka hit second in the lineup, going 3-4 with a double, a run and two RBIs.
- Perez was 2-2 with two runs scored.
- Touchette hit another home run in game two, her second of the day and third of the season. 
- Galka continued to excel in the circle in game two with three more innings pitched, two hits, one earned run and two strikeouts.

UP NEXT
The Lions take on Washburn for a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 10 a.m. Due to weather in Topeka, Kan., the game has been moved to Kansas City Community College in Kansas City.
