No. 4 Women’s Lacrosse Takes Down Nationally-Ranked Colorado Mesa

The No. 4 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team picked up an 18-15 victory over No. 21 Colorado Mesa on Saturday afternoon from Grand Junction, Colo. With the victory, Lindenwood moves to 6-0 and 1-0 from inside the RMAC.

GAME OVERVIEW
Colorado Mesa scored the first goal of the game, but Lindenwood responded with consecutive goals from Hailey Gallant and Gracie Pine to take a 2-1 lead.

The Mavericks pulled even with the Lions at 2-2 just 26 seconds after Pine's goal. Lindenwood responded with a decisive 9-4 run over the final 18:48 of the first half and carried an 11-6 lead into halftime.

Paige Sutton and Pine each scored twice during the game-changing stretch for the Lions.

Colorado Mesa opened the second half by scoring three of the first four goals, cutting the Lindenwood lead to 12-9 with just over 24 minutes remaining in regulation.

Gallant immediately helped to regain the momentum for Lindenwood, as she found the back of the net two more times in a 42-second span.

Colorado Mesa did outscore Lindenwood by a 6-5 margin for the remainder of the game, but the Lions never saw their lead dip below two goals, and prevailed by the final score of 18-15.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Gallant and Pine each scored four goals to pace Lindenwood offensively.
- Gallant now has four games this season with at least goals, while Pine has three.
- Abby Hagberg registered her second three-goal game of the season for the Lions.
- Sarah Farley and Paige Sutton each scored two goals in the game.
- Carly Fedorowski, Alana Jeronimo, and Pine caused three turnovers apiece in the game to anchor the Lindenwood defense.
- Fedorowski led the Lions with six secured draw controls and six ground balls.
- Aly Smith made nine saves in goal for the Lions to record her sixth win of the season.

Lindenwood will return to action on Tuesday afternoon in Salt Lake City, Utah. for a 3:00 p.m. MT (4:00 p.m. central) contest with the Westminster Griffins.
