Baseball Sweeps Fort Hays State with 11-5 Win on Monday

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood baseball team (17-15, 11-7 MIAA) swept Fort Hays State (3-24, 2-16 MIAA) with an 11-5 victory on Monday in Hays, Kan.
 
The Tigers jumped on the board first with a solo home run in the opening inning.  Bryce Beckmann tied the game with an RBI in the top of the second to make it 1-1.  Lindenwood strung together three hits to drive in four runs in the top of the third inning.  DJ Miller started the scoring in that inning with an RBI double that brought in two runs on the play.
 
Kyle Stevens hit this second home run of the weekend with a three-run shot to left center, extending the lead to 8-1.  Neil Fischer stayed hot as he belted a solo shot to left field for his third home run of the series.  Fort Hays State climbed back to a five-run deficit after plating three runs in the bottom of the sixth.  Ryan Venne hit his first-career home run in the top of the seventh over the right centerfield wall.
 
Calvin Nowak capped off the scoring with an-RBI single through the right side to make it 11-5.  Blake Beckmann earned his second win of the season after tossing six innings, striking out 11 batters, and allowing just five hits.  Michael Cessna earned his fourth save of the season, as he went the final three innings and allowed just one run to close out the series.
