Fedorowski's Last-Minute Goal Lifts Women's Lacrosse to 11-10 Win

The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team survived an upset bid from Rockhurst on Thursday evening in Kansas City, Mo. The Lions outlasted the Hawks by an 11-10 score, as Lindenwood's Carly Fedorowski netting the game-winning goal with just 53 seconds remaining in regulation.

GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood outscored Rockhurst 3-1 over the first 11:08 of play, and were in control of the game early on. Paige Sutton accounted for each of the first three scores for the Lions, two of which came unassisted.

The Hawks came charging back, scoring five of the next six goals, to take a 6-4 lead with just over eight minutes remaining in the first half. Sarah Farley and Sutton each scored once before halftime to tie the score at 6-6 entering intermission.

Rockhurst picked up the first two scores of the second half, as it again took a two-goal lead over Lindenwood. Fedorowski and Sami Smit scored back-to-back goals, helping the Lions fight back to tie the game once again, this time with just over 14 minutes showing on the clock.

Following a Rockhurst goal at the 10:57 mark of the second half, Lindenwood's Abby Hagberg and Hailey Gallant each found the back of the net once to give the Lions a 10-9 lead with 8:09 remaining.

Lindenwood managed to protect its one-goal lead for nearly six minutes, but were unable to hold off the Rockhurst attck, as the Hawks knotted the game at 10-10 with 2:11 left in the game.

As the clock ticked under one minute, Fedorowski drove through the middle of the Hawks defense and beat the Rockhurst goalkeeper to the right side for the game-winning score. The Lions held off the charging Hawks for the final 53 seconds of play to earn the 11-10 victory.

- Sutton established a new career-high with her four-goal performance.
- Fedorowski was the other multi-goal scorer for the Lions, which included her second game-deciding score of the season.
- Fedorowski contributed on the defensive end of the field as well, causing a game-high six turnovers.
- Gallant scored one goal and added two assists, giving her an even 50 points on the season.
- Morgan Reader caused three turnovers and secured five draw controls.
- Aly Smith secured her 13th win of the season in goal for the Lions, as she finished the game with four saves.

UP NEXT
Lindenwood will head to Colorado Springs, Colo. for a Saturday matchup with the UCCS Mountain Lions. The game will be the final road contest of the regular season for the Lions and is schedule to begin at 11:00 a.m. MT (12:00 p.m. central).
