Football Hosts William Jewell on Saturday for First Time Since 2010

The Lindenwood football team (0-2, 0-0 GLVC) will look to earn its first win of 2019, as the Lions host William Jewell (1-1, 0-0 GLVC) on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.  This will be the first meeting between the two schools since the 2010 season, and the first GLVC game for Lindenwood.

The Lions hold a slight edge in the series history with an 8-7 all-time record over the Cardinals.  Lindenwood has won the previous four meetings, including a 73-6 victory over William Jewell in the largest margin of the series.

Lindenwood is coming off of a 28-27 loss to No. 16 Midwestern State last week.  The visiting Mustangs blocked the game-tying extra point, and stopped the Lions in the final minute of the game to defeat the Lions.  William Jewell is looking to bounce back from a 49-21 loss to West Texas A&M.  In week one, the Cardinals earned a 29-9 victory over GLVC opponent Southwest Baptist in a non-conference matchup.

Cade Brister leads the conference and is third in the country with his seven passing touchdowns this season.  Brister is also the conference leaders in passing yards (578), and passing yards per game (289.0).  Payton Rose has caught two touchdown passes in each of the first two games, ranking thrid in the nation.  Spencer Redd is leading the GLVC with his 25.1 kickoff return yards per contest.

The Cardinals are led by Will Schneider who has accumulated 449 passing yards and four touchdowns.  Brock Geisz has compiled 27 tackles this season, including 1.5 tackles for loss.
