Women's Basketball Travels to Face Maryville

Lindenwood women's basketball (0-1, 0-1 GLVC) hits the road to face the Maryville Saints (1-0, 1-0 GLVC) on Thursday, Dec. 3 in St. Louis, Mo.

THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR
Lindenwood women's basketball squares off with Maryville for the Lions' first road game of the 2020-21 season. This is the first of two contests between the programs in the regular season.

Lindenwood enters the game with an 0-1 record after falling in the team's season-opener to Drury on Sunday, 110-69. The Lions shot 46.4 percent from the field in Sunday's game, while also bringing in 34 rebounds, and allowing only 29 rebounds. The 29 rebounds allowed are the lowest by any team in the GLVC.

In December games under Falco, the team is 4-2. With Falco as the head coach, the Lions have only lost back-to-back GLVC games once. Also, Lindenwood is 11-4 following a loss in Falco's tenure.

A LOOK AT THE SERIES
In the all-time series between the two teams, the Saints own a 1-0 advantage over the Lions.

Maryville won the contest, 87-83, in St. Charles, in the first-ever meeting. Lindenwood's bench outscored Maryville's bench, 16-13, in the game.

LAST SEASON AGAINST MARYVILLE
Devin Fuhring scored 24 points against the Saints last season, which is a high for returning Lions. Fuhring shot 4-9 on three-pointers, and was also perfect from the charity stripe, going 6-6.

Three Lions scored in the double-figures, as Hennessey Handy and Fuhring combined for 36 points. Julia Ruzevich brought in five rebounds, four of which were on the offensive board. Handy and J. Ruzevich both dished out four assists in the meeting. Four different Lions recorded multiple-steal efforts, including Kate Ruzevich, who led with four.

CAREER-DAY FOR JULIA RUZEVICH
Julia Ruzevich opened the season with a bang as she scored 23 against the Drury Panthers on Sunday. She currently sits in 8th in the conference in scoring and is 4th among those with one game played.

J. Ruzevich's previous career-best in scoring was 19 points at Southwest Baptist (1/9/20).

THE FRESHMAN DISHES IT OUT
Grace Neff led both players on both teams with eight assists in Sunday's game.

Neff is 1st in the conference with an 8.00 assist/turnover ratio. She is tied for 1st with 8.00 assists per game. She is the only freshman currently in the top-3 for assists in the conference.

A STRONG RETURN FOR HANDY
Hennessey Handy, making her return from injury, scored 18 points in the season-opener. She finished second on the squad in scoring. Her 18 points were t-15th in the GLVC.

The 18-point performance marked the 7th double-digit scoring game of Handy's career.

FIST OF FUHRING
Junior guard, Devin Fuhring, was one of three Lions players to reach double-digit figures in scoring against Drury. She finished with 12 points.

It was the 26th time in her career she reached double-figures. The reigning GLVC All-Conference second team player scored 10 or more points 17 times against conference-foes last year. She was 14th in the GLVC in the 2019-20 season in scoring, with 14.2 points per game.
