The Lindenwood women's hockey team (5-19-3, 3-11-0 CHA) will head to Syracuse, N.Y. this weekend to take on Syracuse (10-16-2, 8-4-2 CHA) in a two-game series starting on Friday at 7:00 p.m. (6:00 p.m. central).
Lindenwood is coming of a strong weekend, which ended in a 1-1-0 split against Mercyhurst. The Lions took down the Lakers 3-2 in the first game, but fell 1-0 in a hard-fought battle on Saturday.Â
Jada Burke tallied two points in the game, assisting on the first goal, and scoring the second goal for the Lions on Friday.
Lindenwood saw its three-game home winning streak come to an end on Saturday, after Mercyhurst scored with a breakaway goal in the first period. The Lions were held scoreless at home for the first time in just over two months.
Sierra Burt is leading the Lions in goals (5) and points (13), while standing in a tie with
Megan Wagner in assists with eight each. Wagner has netted four goals this season, while her linemate Burke scored her fourth goal of the season this past weekend.
Annika Asplundh continues to improve her number, posting a 2.70 goals against average with a 9.24 save percentage in 21 games played.
The Lions will look to get a win over the Orange for the first time since February 16, 2018. Syracuse holds the series lead 30-7-2 since the two teams began play in the 2011-12 season.
Lindenwood dropped both contests earlier this season in Maryland Heights, Mo. The Lions are looking for their first win in Syracuse, N.Y. since December 2, 2017.
