The No. 7 Lindenwood wrestling team (9-4, 5-1 GLVC) went 2-0 at the GLVC Championships on Sunday in St. Louis, Mo. The Lions defeated Drury 36-8 to start the day, and ended with a 20-13 win over Maryville.

Tanner Hitchcock made a statement in his first bout of the day, winning by a 16-0 tech fall. No. 6
Colby Smith took down No. 8 Pete Kuster in the 141-pound match by a final of 8-3. Lindenwood took a 21-0 lead after
Danny Swan registered a pin at the 1:38 mark.
Austin Stofer added to the point total with a 10-4 decision, and
Abner Romero posted a 14-3 major decision to put the dual out of reach.
Elijah Mahan handled his opponent in a 7-1 decision, while
Jared McKindley closed out the Lindenwood scoring with a pin at the four-minute mark of his 197-pound match.
In the much anticipated 125-pound bout against Maryville, No. 3
Carlos Jacquez took down No. 11 Tyler Kreith by a slim 3-2 decision. Hitchcock and Swan each picked up decision in their respective matches, while Smith compiled 15 points in his tech fall victory.
Nate Trepanier bounced back in his second match of the day to give Lindenwood a 15-0 lead. Maryville won four out of the last five matches, but the 8-3 decision for Romero helped the Lions hang on for the win.
After posting a conference record of 5-1 this season, Lindenwood took second place in the GLVC. No. 2 McKendree went undefeated in league play, taking home the crown for the third-straight season.
