The No. 15 Lindenwood men's lacrosse team continued its torrid start to the season with an 18-9 win over Lincoln Memorial on Monday.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions led 10-3 entering halftime after a first half that saw them end up with 29 shots. Lindenwood outshot Lincoln Memorial, 29-14, in the first half. The team scooped up 16 ground balls, while Lincoln Memorial recorded 14 ground balls in the first 30 minutes. In all three games this season, Lindenwood has outshot its opponent entering halftime.
Lindenwood continued to keep its foot on the pedal, outscoring Lincoln Memorial 8-6 in the final 30 minutes of the game. The Lions have made a habit out of firing off more shots than an opponent, and the second half was no different, as the team outshot the Rail Splitters 29-17. For the second-straight half, Lindenwood scooped 16 ground balls and Lincoln Memorial scooped 14.
The Lions opened the game on an 8-1 scoring run, and the team did not allow a score from Lincoln Memorial for 21 straight minutes between the first and second quarter.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Jake Campbell and Carter Collins led Lindenwood scorers with three goals scored each. Grant Glazier, Andrew Hasz, Chase Showalter and Cam Smith each finished with two goals scored.
- Smith finished with a team-high four assists to give him six points for the game.
- Collins scooped up a team-high five ground balls. He was one of two Lions to record at least four ground balls, as Danny Kowalski recorded four.
- Of the team's eight caused turnovers, Brian Kallberg had two, to lead the team in the game.
- Jony Major was a team-high 10-13 on faceoffs in the game.
- Connor Ciemiewicz picked up the win in Monday's game, for his third of the season, as he recorded 10 saves.
