Men's Basketball Upends Rockhurst at Home

The Lindenwood men's basketball team (10-15, 4-13 GLVC) picked up a conference victory, 86-77, over Rockhurst (15-10, 11-6 GLVC) on Thursday.

GAME OVERVIEW
In a back-and-forth game that saw the Lions trail by as many as eight points, the team rallied to come from behind and beat a difficult conference opponent, at home in the Hyland Arena.

The Lions shot 44.4 percent from the field, and 45.5 percent from deep, in a first half that saw them head to the locker room down by two points. Rockhurst had a first half shooting percentage of 56.7, while hitting on 5-12 three-pointers, and draining all five free throw attempts. In the first half, Lindenwood turned the ball over six times, while Rockhurst limited its turnovers to just four. Both teams were feasting in the paint, as Lindenwood had 16 points from inside in the first half, while also collecting nine second chance points to the Hawks' 2.

The second half saw Lindenwood outscore Rockhurst, 44-33, while finishing with two more points in the paint than the Hawks (26-24). The team shot 60.7 percent from the field in the second half, as they hit on 17-28 shots. The Lions had eight fast break points in the final 20 minutes of the game, while limiting Rockhurst to zero. Lindenwood's bench outscored Rockhurst's, 6-3, in the second half.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • TJ Crockett led the team with 23 points. It was the 17th 20-point performance of the season for Crockett.
  • Luka Radosevic added 21 points for the Lions, marking the third 20-point performance of his career. He has scored 20 or more points in two of the last three games.
  • Vijay Blackmon and Cameron Scales tallied 19 and 12 points for Lindenwood, respectively.
  • Blackmon was the team's leader in rebounding with seven boards. It was the fourth time this season he has led the Lions in boards.
  • Sukhman Bhinder and Crockett both finished the game with four assists, which led the team.
  • Anthony Christian, Kace Kitchel, Radosevic and Scales all recorded a steal.

QUOTEABLE
"Extremely happy for our guys to get this win at home," said Head Coach Kyle Gerdeman. "Rockhurst is a good team. We survived a sluggish first half and then played really hard in the second half. The guys deserve all the credit, they made plays when they needed to down the stretch."
