The Lindenwood women's hockey team (5-22-4, 3-14-1 CHA) will head to Rochester, N.Y. this weekend to take on RIT (11-18-3, 4-13-1 CHA) in the final road series on the regular season. The Lions and Tigers are set to faceoff on Friday at 2:00 p.m. (1:00 p.m. central).
Lindenwood won both games against RIT earlier this season in Maryland Heights, Mo. The Lions shut out the Tigers in each contests, winning by scores of 3-0 and 2-0, respectively.
Annika Asplundh was named CHA Goalie of the Week after making 64 saves in her 120 minutes between the pipes. The New Hope, Pa. native made double-digit saves in four of the six periods in the mid-January series.
Sierra Burt earned CHA Player of the Week honors, as she tallied four points. A native of Bayfield, Ontario, Burt scored a goal and dished out an assist in each of the two games. Burt scored the game-winning goal in the second game of the weekend series.
With 15 points on the year (6 goals, 9 assists), Burt leads the team, while
Megan Wagner ranks second on the team with 12 points (4 goals, 8 assists). Asplundh will carry a 2.87 goals against average into the weekend, along with a .921 save percentage in her 25 games played.
The eight-year old series has been as even as it could be, as the Tigers hold a 13-12-5 advantage over the Lions. Lindenwood has won six of the last nine meetings, including back-to-back shutouts this season.
Lindenwood has won three road games in the series history, while 17 games have been decided by one goal or less.
