Football Inks 2020 Class on Wednesday

The Lindenwood football team inked members of its 2020 class on Wednesday in St. Charles, Mo.  Head coach Jed Stugart announced a 20-man signing class, including 11 transfers and nine high school seniors.

Lindenwood brought in four players from the state of Missouri, and four more from the neighboring state of Illinois.  The Lions balanced out the 2020 recruiting class with 11 defensive players and nine offensive players.  Lindenwood focused on the defensive backfield with six players signing as a cornerback or safety.  The Lions found players from all across the country, hitting 11 states in the process.

Entering his fourth season in 2020, Stugart is looking to build off a successful 2019 campaign, which saw the most wins for the program since the 2010 season.  The Lions closed out the season ranked in the top-25 for the first time in the NCAA era.  Lindenwood went 9-4 on the season, including a GLVC Conference Championship with a perfect 7-0 conference slate.

The Lions were led by AP All-American, Drew Seers, who was also named GLVC Defensive Player of the Year.  Cade Brister posted his name all over the Lindenwood record book, as he earned GLVC Offensive Player of the Year in 2019.  Lindenwood earned a spot in the 2019 NCAA Division II Playoffs, upsetting Ouachita Baptist in the first round.

The Lions will open the 2020 season at home against Notre Dame College on September 3 at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.  Lindenwood will have six home games this season, including three out of the first four games of the season.
