No. 14 Men's Lacrosse Opens Up GLVC Play with Win at Maryville

The No. 14 Lindenwood men's lacrosse team (5-0, 1-0 GLVC) picked up a conference victory at Maryville (2-4, 0-1 GLVC), 18-9.

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions led, 9-3, heading into halftime after outshooting the Saints, 34-9, over the first 30 minutes of the game. The Lions scooped up 26 ground balls over the first two quarters, to Maryville's 12, while also turning the ball over four less times. The Lions led by as much as six points in the first half of the game.

The second half saw the Lions pull away late, with nine goals in the half, seven of which came in the final quarter. The team continued to put up more shots than Maryville, finishing with 32 shots in the second half, and 66 for the game. The Lions scooped up 26 ground balls in the third and fourth period combined, matching their output for the first half, and giving the team 52 for the game. Lindenwood has outscored each of its first five opponents in the second half, to start the season.

  • Jake Campbell led the Lions with four goals scored, which was a new career-high for the redshirt junior.
  • Grant Brunsvold added three goals for the team, while Carter Collins, Peter Covington, and Leonard Jones each scored two goals.

  • Collins scooped up eight ground balls on Sunday, which was tops on the team, and a season-high for him.
  • Alex Eubank, Collins, and Jones all caused a team-high two turnovers.

  • Connor Ciemiewicz picked up his fifth-straight win to begin the season, while making seven saves.
