Women's Hockey Set For Weekend Series Against No. 8 Penn State

The Lindenwood women's hockey team (2-6-0, 2-6-0 CHA) returns to the ice this weekend and will take on No. 8 Penn State (8-1-1, 8-1-1 CHA) in a two-game series from Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Mo. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.

The Lions will look to snap Penn States' four-game winning streak, which has helped them earn their first-ever national ranking at No. 8 in the country.

Lindenwood opened the 2020-21 season on the road at Penn State in early November where the Nittany Lions won both games of the series by scores of 3-0 and 4-1, respectively in University Park, Pa.

Netminder Annika Asplundh stopped 38 Penn State shots in the season opener, her second-most of the season. The New Hope Pa. native is having a solid season, carrying a .943 save percentage to go along with a 2.02 goals against average.

Jane Jacobs scored the lone goal for the Lions in the series against Penn State this season. Sierra Burt and Bailey Coyne each added an assist on the goal.

Burt, (2 G, 2 A) and Coyne ( 1 G, 3 A) are tied for the team lead in points with four through eight games played.

Lindenwood will play its first ranked team this season.  The Lions last win versus a ranked team came on January 5th 2018 when the Lions defeated No. 10 St. Lawrence 5-4.
